The Story Behind Handmade Products

Updated: Dec 13, 2020

The first thing I did this past week was get on LinkedIn to continue building connections with marketing professionals. Although I have completed my three required research interviews, I am hoping to conduct a few more as they are always such a beneficial way to get new insight into the field. I was able to connect with Ms. Christine Stein, Greater Texas Marketing leader at PwC, and she expressed her willingness to allow me to interview her. We are working on setting up a date and time for the interview, and I am beyond excited to learn more about her work and experiences in the field. This past week was also our research speech presentation week. I was able to watch all of the ISM I students’ speeches virtually, and it was a great opportunity to learn more about what my fellow ISM classmates have been up to in terms of their research. Lastly, I ended off this week by conducting more research for my original work marketing campaign. This time, I looked into the topic of the creative economy, specifically reading about the use of e-commerce in selling handmade products. I learned that there has been an increasing trend in the number of customers who are buying unique, custom products made by hand because customers value the quality, creativity, and time that goes into making them. Handmade products have a special personal touch to them that can make them so valuable to a company.
