After brainstorming many different ideas I had for my final product, I was able to narrow it down to two ideas: creating a guide for small business owners to better market during the pandemic or conducting research to propose various marketing ideas for Kendra Scott to better reach Gen Z. During my mentor meeting with Mrs. Edmondson this past week, I discussed both ideas, and we ended up finalizing on my second idea. I was able to share a few different marketing ideas for Kendra Scott that I already had, and Mrs. Edmondson provided me with some great feedback and tips on where I should begin my research for my final product. During the second half of our meeting, we began our discussion about the topic of philanthropic marketing, and Mrs. Edmondson shared with me a little bit about Kendra Scott’s background and mission dedicated to supporting our community through various cause-based initiatives. We spoke about the importance of “storytelling” in philanthropic marketing as well as the “pre, during, and post” goals of a cause marketing campaign and the overall role that events play in philanthropic marketing. I absolutely loved hearing about this topic, and I am excited to both continue learning more about philanthropic marketing as well as continue work and preparation for my final product this week.
