A Look into Market Segmentation

I began this week by getting on LinkedIn to continue reaching out to marketing professionals specifically in the communications and brand marketing space. I started requesting research interviews to a few professionals who connected back as well. I’m very excited to see what they will say because I cannot wait to get started with interviewing! This week I was also able to peer review some of my fellow ISM classmates’ resumes as well as make some finishing touches on my own. Doing this really helped me improve my understanding of what it takes to create a well-written resume. You’re given one page to elaborate on your experiences and skills, so using effective action verbs and phrases that capture what you’ve done is so crucial. I’m excited to get more feedback on my resume throughout the year from marketing professionals and other ISM students. Towards the end of the week, I continued my independent research by looking into the topic of market segmentation in the field of marketing. Market segmentation is such an important component in creating a successful marketing campaign for any company, but I realized that there are so many different approaches to go about it. It’s all about being strategic and acting in a way that fits the needs and desires of a specific company.
