Research, Research, and More Research

This week, I really got to get a lot more into my research for my Final Product. For me, I feel like if I am able to do enough initial research during my first month of work, I will really be able to have a good handle when I start to get more into my actual nonprofit plan and operations outline. I started with the establishment of my nonprofit by briefly outlining its mission, purpose, and the problem I am hoping to address. I then went into my research of the topic my mentor, Ms. George, specified for me to look into, such as the Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT), general retail industry, and different software platforms available. It was especially interesting for me to understand how important different software platforms can be when growing a nonprofit as I was able to explore different websites, accessing all of their strengths and weaknesses. Doing research is definitely a tedious process, but I quickly realized that because I am so interested in my Final Product, time is really flying by. I am learning so much about this entire process of establishing a nonprofit, and I know that understanding these steps will prove extremely beneficial to me in the future.
