Before this week, I really had no idea how to approach my Original Work. The task of creating a permanent solution towards self-employment in the developing world excites me, but it seemed like such a daunting and intimidating task to follow through with. Nonetheless, as I started my initial research for my Original Work, I realized that although I am merely a high school student, if I work hard enough, there is so much potential for what I can achieve. I went into my research with the idea of finding alternative finance methods for these aspiring entrepreneurs and came across the concept of crowdfunding. As I continued my research the following day, I discovered that crowdfunding is an effective way to generate funding without having to go through the process of applying for traditional business loans. I was thrilled with my findings and know that I can now use this concept to shape my Original Work. Not many people have implemented crowdfunding in developing countries, so I feel that my research and Original Work will prove to be extremely valuable. Along with my Original Work research, I contacted many professionals this week hoping to set up primary research interviews. Although I already have three interviews, I would like to continue to expand my knowledge in the field by looking at different perspectives of those working in the industry. I feel that talking face-to-face with someone is the best way to learn more and simultaneous build on my soft skills.
